Grew up on a poultry/grain farm in Prince Edward County

Attended The Royal Military College

Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Married first wife Mary after graduation

Eventually had 4 children

Joined Canadian Infantry as a junior officer and posted to regiment in Calgary

Posted to School of Infantry at Camp Borden

Left military in 1966

Bought first part of present farm in 1968 and moved there in 1969 with young family

Built started pullet barns in 1969

Started tiling farm in 1969

Tiling continues to this day

Built layer barn in 1976 and rebuilt after fire in 1989

Farmed with brother Kurt – eventually 2500 acres in 3 counties –  until mid 1980s

Married second wife Helen

Youngest son Max joined farming operation

Today Max is President of Kaiser Lake Farms Ltd and majority owner

Has added to original farm over years till now covers 1300 acres with 1100 acres cleared and tiled

Involved with various organizations including Ontario Egg Producers, OFA, OSCIA

Involved with IFAO and served as a Director for 6 years as well as Conference chairman twice

Continues to attend conferences and speak about farming

Named Soil Conservation Council of Canada Soil Champion 2012

Named Ontario Soil and Crop Soil Champion 2017

Inducted into Quinte Agricultural Wall Of Fame 2017
